ABBA (schwedische Aussprache: [aba]) ist eine schwedische Popgruppe, die 1972 in Stockholm von Agnetha Faltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson und Anni-Frid Lyngstad gegründet wurde.
Der Name der Gruppe ist ein Akronym der Anfangsbuchstaben ihrer Vornamen. Sie wurden zu einem der kommerziell erfolgreichsten Acts in der Geschichte der Popmusik und führten von 1974 bis 1982 weltweit die Charts an. ABBA gewann 1974 den Eurovision Song Contest im The Dome in Brighton, Großbritannien, und bescherte Schweden seinen ersten Triumph im Wettbewerb. Sie sind die erfolgreichste Gruppe, die am Wettbewerb teilgenommen hat. Schätzungen zufolge beläuft sich der Gesamtumsatz von ABBA weltweit auf etwa 140 bis 500 Millionen Tonträger, was sie zu einem der meistverkauften Musikkünstler aller Zeiten macht. ABBA ist die erste Gruppe aus einem nicht englischsprachigen Land, die in den Charts englischsprachiger Länder, darunter Großbritannien, Irland, Kanada, Australien, Neuseeland, Südafrika und die Vereinigten Staaten, durchgängig Erfolge erzielt hat.
