| Hugh Alan Cornwell (geboren 28 augustus 1949) is een Engelse muzikant en singer-songwriter, vooral bekend als zanger en gitarist van de punkrock / new wave band The Stranglers van 1974 tot 1990. Na het verlaten van de Stranglers, Cornwell werkte samen met Roger Cook en Andy West als CCW. Hun titelloze album werd uitgebracht in 1992. Cornwell heeft verschillende soloalbums uitgebracht, waaronder Wolf (1988), Wired (1993), Guilty (1997), Hi Fi (2000), Footprints in the Desert (2002), Mayday (2002) , In het Dock (2003) en Beyond Elysian Fields (2004). In 2006 verscheen een live-album in twee vormen: People Places Pieces, een drievoudige cd-boxset, vergezeld van een gelijktijdig uitgebrachte schijf met hoogtepunten op de massamarkt, Dirty Dozen. De twaalf nummers tellende schijf met hoogtepunten, Live It en Breathe It, werd in 2005 uitgebracht voorafgaand aan de boxset. In juni 2008 trad Cornwell in de voetsporen van Radiohead en Nine Inch Nails door zijn nieuwe album Hooverdam als gratis download aan te bieden op zijn website. Hij bracht in de jaren 2010 soloplaten Totem en Taboo en Monster uit en blijft toeren als onderdeel van zijn driekoppige soloband. | ||
