Doctor Who ist eine britische Science-Fiction-Fernsehsendung, die seit 1963 von der BBC produziert wird. Die Sendung schildert die Abenteuer eines Time Lords namens „The Doctor“, eines außerirdischen, allem Anschein nach menschlichen Wesens vom Planeten Gallifrey. Der Doktor erkundet das Universum in einem zeitreisenden Raumschiff namens TARDIS. Sein Äußeres ähnelt einem blauen britischen Polizeihäuschen, was 1963, als die Serie erstmals ausgestrahlt wurde, in Großbritannien ein alltäglicher Anblick war. Begleitet von einer Reihe von Gefährten bekämpft der Doktor eine Vielzahl von Feinden, während er daran arbeitet, Zivilisationen zu retten und Menschen in Not zu helfen.
