| Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (algemeen bekend als OMD) is een Engelse elektronische band, opgericht in Wirral, Merseyside, in 1978 met Paul Humphreys (synthesizers) en Andy McCluskey (zang en basgitaar). Eerdere incarnaties van hun band waren onder meer 'VCL XI' en 'Hitlerz Underpantz'. Ze speelden hun eerste optreden in 1978 bij Eric's (Liverpool) en hadden daarna een reeks Britse hitlijsten nadat ze van label hadden gewisseld van Factory naar het Virgin-label DinDisc, te beginnen met de release Messages uit 1980. In 1980 stapten drummer Malcolm Holmes en Dave Hughes op synths over van gast-/livemuzikanten naar volwaardige leden van de band. | ||
