Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark (communément appelé OMD) est un groupe électronique anglais formé à Wirral, Merseyside, en 1978 avec Paul Humphreys (synthétiseurs) et Andy McCluskey (chant et guitare basse). Les incarnations antérieures de leur groupe comprenaient « VCL XI » et « Hitlerz Underpantz ». Ils ont joué leur premier concert en 1978 chez Eric's (Liverpool), puis ont eu une série de succès dans les charts britanniques après avoir changé de label de Factory au label appartenant à Virgin, DinDisc, à partir de la sortie de 1980 Messages. En 1980, le batteur Malcolm Holmes et Dave Hughes aux synthés sont passés du statut de musiciens invités/live à ceux de membres à part entière du groupe.
