| In some ways this story had the makings of a good story, but I think it really has not aged with time well. Maybe it is the special effects, or making the acting - I am not sure. |

| Video 2000 (auch bekannt als V2000, mit dem Bandstandard Video Compact Cassette oder VCC) ist ein Consumer-Videokassettensystem und ein analoger Aufnahmestandard, der von Philips und Grundig entwickelt wurde, um mit den Videotechnologien VHS von JVC und Betamax von Sony zu konkurrieren. Entwickelt für den PAL-Farbfernsehstandard (einige Modelle unterstützten zusätzlich SECAM), begann der Vertrieb der Video 2000-Produkte 1979 ausschließlich in Europa, Südafrika und Argentinien und endete 1988. Video 2000 wurde 1979 auf der Internationalen Funkausstellung in Berlin vorgestellt Nachfolger des früheren Video Cassette Recording (VCR)-Formats von Philips und seiner Derivate (VCR-LP und Grundigs SVR). Obwohl einige frühe Modelle und Werbungen ein spiegelbildliches „VCR“-Logo trugen, das auf dem Logo der älteren Systeme basierte, war Video 2000 ein völlig neues (und inkompatibles) Format, das viele technische Innovationen beinhaltete. Trotzdem hatte das Format keinen großen Erfolg und wurde schließlich eingestellt, nachdem es im Videoformatkrieg gegen das konkurrierende VHS-System verloren hatte. |
