I didn't listen to the Goons on the radio, I am too young for that. But I did buy all the records the BBC released once I knew about them. Some very sgtrange characters in the shows which has laughs all the way. This is the last ever, but still as fun as the others even if it was years after the last one they recorded.

Das 8-Spur-Band (früher Stereo 8; allgemein bekannt als Acht-Spur-Kassette, Acht-Spur-Band oder einfach Acht-Spur) ist eine Magnetband-Tonaufzeichnungstechnologie, die in den Vereinigten Staaten ab Mitte der 1960er Jahre populär war bis in die frühen 1980er Jahre, als das Kompaktkassettenformat die Oberhand gewann. Das Format gilt als veraltete Technologie und war außerhalb der USA, des Vereinigten Königreichs, Kanadas, Neuseelands, Australiens, Westdeutschlands und Japans relativ unbekannt. Stereo 8 wurde 1964 von einem Konsortium unter der Leitung von Bill Lear von der Lear Jet Corporation zusammen mit Ampex, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Motorola und RCA Victor Records (RCA - Radio Corporation of America) entwickelt. Es handelte sich um eine Weiterentwicklung des ähnlichen Stereo-Pak-Vierspur-Tonabnehmers, der von Earl „Madman“ Muntz (Marketing- und Fernsehgerätehändler) eingeführt wurde und von Muntz aus dem von George Eash entwickelten Fidelipac-Tonabnehmer adaptiert wurde. Eine spätere Quadrophonie-Version (Vierkanalton im Gegensatz zu früher weit verbreitetem Stereo-/Zweikanalton) des Formats wurde im April 1970 von RCA angekündigt und zunächst als Quad-8 bekannt, später jedoch nur noch als Q8 bezeichnet.
