Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark (allgemein bekannt als OMD) ist eine englische Elektronikband, die 1978 in Wirral, Merseyside, mit Paul Humphreys (Synthesizer) und Andy McCluskey (Gesang und Bassgitarre) gegründet wurde. Zu den früheren Inkarnationen ihrer Band gehörten „VCL XI“ und „Hitlerz Underpantz“. Sie spielten ihren ersten Auftritt 1978 bei Eric's (Liverpool) und hatten dann eine Reihe von Hits in den britischen Charts, nachdem sie ab der Verüffentlichung Messages im Jahr 1980 das Label von Factory zum Virgin-eigenen Label DinDisc wechselten. Im Jahr 1980 wechselten Schlagzeuger Malcolm Holmes und Dave Hughes an den Synthesizern von Gast-/Livemusikern zu Vollmitgliedern der Band.
