Elsewhere, the Sixth Doctor and Peri also decide to pay a visit to Camera. They find the station abandoned, but discover Jamie, half-crazed, hiding in the ducting. And he tells them that the Doctor has been murdered ... BackgroundThe tradition of the current Doctor meeting his previous selves was something that the series had initiated for its tenth anniversary, and had recently repeated for its twentieth. Although these stories were enjoyable romps, both were beset with problems in terms of the availability of key actors, and the need to give all incarnations of the Doctor an equal slice of the action. The Two Doctors was made possible due to the enthusiasm of Patrick Troughton, fresh from his role in The Five Doctors, and unlike his multi-Doctor predecessors was not designed to be an exercise in celebratory backslapping. The script's only purpose is to tell a cracking story, rather than being a contrived vehicle for the other Doctors to reappear, and it celebrates nothing other than the fact that it is Doctor Who! The Spanish location brings with it a degree of sophistication and style that is unusual for the series, which helps place The Two Doctors in a league above most other stories if its time. | ||
