Next BBC drama show for a Sunday this time. This one about war. Music has very European influences.

Conducted by Richard Holmes Produced by Bruce Talbot Fortunes of war is a compelling television serial based on Olivia Manning's Balkan Trilogy and Levant Trilogy. The screenplay is by Alan Plater. Set against the vivad canvas of civilian life in wartime Europe, it is a remarkable portrait of a marriage with the expatriate English community. The cast includes Kenneth Branagh, Emma Thompson, Ronald Pickup, Rupert Graves, Alan Bennett and Charles Kay. The serial is directed by James Vellan Jones and produced by Betty Willingale.
